He began his career as a theatrical writer in 2005, began by co-writing a one-woman play called Miss Education of Jenna Bush with his then-girlfriend Melissa.
The two of them came up with the idea for this very show after seeing Jenna Bush’s younger sister brag to the crowd at the 2004 Republican National Convention about how enthralled everyone was by her. Although this would be their opening night, the show was incredibly popular and garnered fantastic reviews from the critics as well among other accolades, it was proclaimed the “outstanding solo show” and the audience favorite at the 2005 New York International Fringe Festival.
Additionally, the show had a sold-out run on the HBO Arts Festival and at the Coronet Theater. After their early success, the pair shifted from New York to Los Angeles to further pursue their professional careers, where the buzz generated by the program’s popularity helped Melissa land the role of Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz in the third season of the hugely popular CBS series The Big Bang Theory .
