She is a fifth-generation American of Jewish (from Germany, Hungary, and Poland) ancestry. In 1990, she received a BFA from Syracuse University. From 2000 to 2002, Heather starred as Lydia DeLucca in the CBS drama That’s Life. She also sang the show’s theme song, “Learnin’ As I Go”, used in the second season. Heather became a member of The Real Housewives of Orange County season 7 and left after season 11. She rejoined the show for season 16 and has appeared through season 20.

Her portrayal of Lydia DeLucca in the drama That s Life earned her a significant amount of attention on television.
